21 Dec Sheffield schools to enjoy FREE streamed panto in new year
Sheffield Theatres has announced its streamed version of Damian’s Pop-Up Panto will be made available for free to all schools in the region from Mon 4 – Fri 8 January 2021.
Following news last week that no live audiences would be able to attend the performances of the panto, Sheffield Theatres have partnered with Learn Sheffield to ensure that all schools in the region get access to the streamed version of Damian’s Pop-Up Panto for free.
Stephen Betts, Chief Executive of Learn Sheffield: “This is a lovely gesture from Sheffield Theatres which reflects the close relationship between the theatre and schools across the region. I am sure that children and staff will enjoy this New Year treat!”
Dan Bates, Chief Executive of Sheffield Theatres, added: “Every year we welcome thousands of school children from across the city to our panto, sadly due to current restrictions we are unable to welcome schools into our buildings this Christmas time, which is why I’m personally so excited that we’re sharing Damian’s Pop-Up Panto! with schools for free.
“Watching rehearsals I was smiling from ear to ear and laughing throughout and after what has been such a difficult year for us all, it is fantastic that we are able to bring some cheer to school children across our region.”
Damian’s Pop-Up Panto stars Sheffield legend Damian Williams as the Dame who’s tasked with saving Christmas. Written and directed by Sheffield Theatres regular pantomime producer, Paul Hendy, joining Damian are comedian, presenter and internet sensation Joe Tracini, and West End stars Gemma Sutton, Lucas Rush and Deborah Tracey, in a fun-sized festive treat for everyone!
