Leadmill secures much needed funding

Sheffield’s much-loved live music venue the Leadmill has announced they have been successful in their Culture Recovery Fund application!

The grant means the venue will be financially viable until March 2021 and will enable them to continue hosting Covid-safe events.

Announcing the news, they said: “We’re very happy to share the news that our Culture Recovery Fund application was successful!

“This grant will see us through to March 2021 and will enable us to carry on doing what we do best, bringing you fun and safe events!

“Thanks to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and SportHM Treasury and Arts Council England for being #hereforculture and supporting our industry.

“Big love to Music Venue Trust for all of their help to venues across the country during this process, without them none of this would have been possible.”

More than 1,300 arts organisations across England, including Liverpool’s Cavern club, the Young Vic, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and in Sheffield, the Leadmill, National Videogame Museum and Museums Sheffield are all to receive a share of £257m government money to help them survive the next six months.

The £257m lifeline is for organisations which applied for less than £1m. It will, ministers said, allow performances to restart and enable venues to plan for reopening.
