Here’s (a few) of our favourite curry houses in Sheffield

It’s National Curry Week this week, so in a completely unoriginal idea for content, here’s some of our favourite curry houses spicing up the Steel City. Enjoy…

*disclaimer: This is not an exhaustive list, just some of our faves.

Bhaji Shop, Chesterfield Road and Hagglers Corner

Over the years, Bhaji Shop has done a bit of everything in Sheffield; from pop-ups and catering vans to Kelham Island restaurants and various shops and restaurants in the S8 area, we’re now very happy to welcome them back with a new all-day café and restaurant inside the wonderful Hagglers Corner. They’re also still popping bhajis and curries out of their Chesterfield Road site and there really is fewer better bhajis in the city.

Ashoka, Ecclesall Road

Famously the Arctic Monkeys favourite curry house, with delights like their Taxi Driver curry, it’s easy to see why. They’ve been around producing belting curries since 1967 and if you’ve seen they’re branding you’ll know that they’re ‘reyt good™.’

Ajantas, Chesterfield Road

If you’re in the mood for some vegan Indian cuisine, either to eat in or take away, then look no further than the lovely folk over at Ajanta’s Vegetarian on Chesterfield Road. Their 100 per cent vegan offering is freshly prepared each day to traditional Punjabi recipes handed down through the generations of Ajanta’s family. Grab one of their fantastic, speciality thali trays for a tenner.

Bambukat, Broomhill

This Fulwood Road restaurant is all about small plates of Indian street food, encouraging diners to try a variety of different dishes, which if you’re greedy, like us, leads to a whole lot of mouth-watering surprises. Thalis, pani puri and wadapav are the order of the day. Beaut.

Mowgli, Ecclesall Road

Also on Ecclesall Road is Mowgli, an Indian street food chain that opened its first Sheffield restaurant back in 2019. Mowgli fans who had delighted at venues in other cities were not disappointed when they arrived in Sheffield and we still can’t get over their Treacle Tamarind Fries.
